The **Federal Armed Forces** (Bundesstreitkräfte) is the country's joint military force and consists of three branches: the Federal Army (Alemannian: Bundesheer), the Federal Navy (Alemannian: Bundesmarine), and the Federal Air Force (Alemannian: Bundesluftstreitkräfte). During peacetime, the Bundesstreitkräfte is commanded by the Federal Council collectively. In a State of Emergency, the legislature elects a General as supreme military commander for the duration of the emergency. The Federal Armed Forces consists of an active personnel of 1,301,850 people, 846,203 of whom are in the army, 260,370 in the navy, and 195,276 in the air force. The total budget of the Federal Armed Forces is $459.8 Billion. Conscription applies to all male citizens between the ages of 18 and 25 for a period of 10 months.
The Federal Armed Forces in their current form was established in August 1931 after the completed integration of the Ymirian Royal Armed Forces, the Archducal Arlbernian Armed Forces and the Nordmarken Armed Forces into one united Armed Force structure. While the Bundesstreikräfte were not directly involved in a conflict so far, most forces in the Armed forces participated in the 2nd Genosan War and Operation Monsoon during the times of the Akenauer Bund. As of 1932, it operates currently mostly alone but close cooperation with the Nichirian Army still continues to exist as continuation from the now defunct Mizuhara Pentapartite.
